Oven-Baked Breakfast Sausage

  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork with salt, black pepper, sage, thyme, rosemary, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix well until all the seasonings are evenly distributed.
  3. Divide the seasoned pork mixture into equal-sized portions and shape them into sausage patties or links.
  4. Place the sausage patties or links on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat, ensuring they are evenly spaced.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the sausages are cooked through and browned on the outside.
  6. If desired, you can broil the sausages for an additional 2-3 minutes to achieve a crispy exterior.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the sausages rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Feel free to customize the seasonings based on your preference. You can also make a batch and freeze the uncooked sausages for later use. Adjust cooking time accordingly when reheating frozen sausages.
