  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Stir in the yeast and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast mixture, melted butter, and salt. Gradually add the flour and mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Sprinkle mozzarella, Parmesan, parsley, and garlic powder evenly over the dough.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 12 equal pieces. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown.
  9. Optional: Brush the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle additional Parmesan and parsley before serving.
