Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 large egg

For the Filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

For the Frosting:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, warm milk, water, and egg.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Gradually add the remaining flour until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes.
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  9. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly.
  10. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 slices.
  11. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  12. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.

For the Frosting:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, softened butter, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  2. Spread the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls.

Notes

For a quicker option, you can use store-bought refrigerated crescent roll dough and adjust the filling and frosting accordingly.
