Easy Pizza Margherita

Ingredients

  • 1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the pizza dough package or your homemade recipe.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
  3. Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
  4. Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
  5. Arrange the sliced fresh mozzarella and tomato slices on top of the sauce.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven according to the pizza dough instructions, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove the pizza from the oven and sprinkle fresh basil leaves over the top.
  9. Drizzle with extra-virgin olive oil.
  10. Allow the pizza to cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

For an extra burst of flavor, you can drizzle balsamic glaze over the pizza or sprinkle red pepper flakes for some heat. Customize with your favorite toppings if desired.
