Asparagus and Caramelized Onion Flatbread Pizza

  • 1 pre-made flatbread or pizza crust
  • 1 cup asparagus, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  3. While onions are caramelizing, blanch the asparagus pieces in boiling water for 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  4. Place the flatbread or pizza crust on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  5. Spread ricotta cheese evenly over the crust, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the ricotta, followed by the caramelized onions and blanched asparagus.
  7. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  10. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, slice, and serve.

Feel free to customize this flatbread pizza by adding your favorite ingredients such as cherry tomatoes, olives, or arugula for extra freshness.
