Slow-Cooked BBQ Pulled Pork

- 4–5 pounds pork butt
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- Mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper in a small bowl to create a rub.
- Rub the spice mixture evenly over the pork butt, covering all sides.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pork butt until browned on all sides.
- Transfer the pork to a slow cooker. Pour in chicken broth and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds.
- Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks.
- Mix shredded pork with barbecue sauce.
- Serve on buns or as desired.
