- 1 pack Instant ramen noodles
- 16 pieces / 180g Korean rice cakes (tteok)
- 5g Dried kelp
- 15g Dried anchovies (heads and black innards removed)
- 3 cups Water
- 2 sheets / 110g Korean fish cakes
- 2 pieces / 45g Frozen Korean dumplings
- 2 Hard boiled eggs (halved)
- 80g Cabbage leaves
- 1/2, 60g Small onion
- 1 stalk, 20g Green onion
- 4 Tbsp Gochujang
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Raw sugar
- 1 tsp Minced garlic
- 1 tsp Gochugaru
- 4 pieces / 100g Deep-fried seaweed spring rolls
- some Toasted sesame seeds
- Make broth: Begin by combining 3 cups of water, dried kelp, and anchovies in a medium pot. Boil uncovered over medium heat for 10 minutes before removing the kelp. Continue boiling for another 10 minutes, then remove the anchovies.
- Prepare sauce: Transfer the broth to a wider pot and mix in the gochujang, raw sugar, minced garlic, and gochugaru until everything is well combined. Bring the sauce to a boil over medium-high heat, letting the flavors meld together beautifully.
- Add ingredients: Once boiling, lower the heat to medium-low. Add in the rice cakes, fish cakes, ramen noodles, cabbage, onions, dumplings, and spring rolls. Stir occasionally and cook for about 10-15 minutes until the rice cakes are soft and the noodles are tender.
- Final touches: Just before serving, gently add the halved hard-boiled eggs, chopped green onions, and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the top for that irresistible finishing touch.
Notes
- Soak the rice cakes in warm water to help them separate easily.
- Sieve the broth for a pristine presentation.
- Adjust the amount of gochujang and gochugaru to match your spice tolerance.
- Use a wide, shallow pot for even cooking.
- Consider making homemade seaweed spring rolls or dumplings for a fresher taste.
- Rabokki can serve as a light meal or main dish; add extra proteins or veggies for heartiness.
