Tennessee Onion Chicken Recipe

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 large sweet onions, sliced
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup Tennessee whiskey
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate chicken in buttermilk for 1-2 hours.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Dredge chicken in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet; brown chicken on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, sauté onions until golden.
  6. Deglaze with whiskey, add chicken broth, and bring to a simmer.
  7. Return chicken to the skillet, cover, and cook until chicken is done.
  8. Garnish with parsley and serve.
