– 1 lb ground beef – Salt and pepper to taste – 1 onion, finely chopped – 1 bell pepper, finely chopped – 4 slices American cheese – 1 tablespoon mayonnaise – 1 tablespoon ketchup – 1 teaspoon yellow mustard – 4 sub rolls or hero rolls – 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat vegetable oil. 2. Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.
3. Add chopped onion and bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are softened. 4. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, and yellow mustard to create the sauce.
5. Push the beef, onion, and bell pepper mixture to one side of the skillet. Place the sub rolls in the skillet, cut side down, to toast lightly. 6. Once the rolls are toasted, place slices of American cheese over the beef mixture. Let it melt.
7. Carefully mix the melted cheese with the beef, onions, and bell peppers until well combined. 8. Spread the sauce on the toasted side of the sub rolls. 9. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto the rolls. 10. Serve hot and enjoy your homemade chopped cheese!
